Ava's Tropical Dreams- Party weeks!

 Party weeks!

I am sorry I have not done a blog for so long. There has just been so much going on...

Christmas Eve and Christmas:

Christmas Wakeboard

Christmas Eve meetup

tug of war!

On Christmas Eve, a lot of other cruising families went to the beach to do some fun games. All the kids (from ages 6-15) took part in games like tug of war, paddle board racing, egg throwing and more. We all had so much fun!
On Christmas day we did the usual tradition of opening presents first, but after we went wake boarding! It was the perfect morning for it! Me and my dad even wore Santa hats as we went around the bay. We also did a float where a big group of us tied lots of floaties together and drifted through the bay! After the float, we went to a pot luck where all of the cruisers on Bequia brought a dish and had fun together!

Mum's Birthday!

On the 27th of December it was my mum's birthday! πŸŽ‰  My family and all of our friends took a taxi and went to a bar on a beach that was the other side of Bequia. We all had lunch there and the kids played in the sea! At one point my mum had to put a ridiculous outfit on. It was really nice to celebrate her birthday with all of our friends- there was 20 of us! We had a great time.

Selfie scavenger hunt!

One day, another family and ours signed up to do a scavenger hunt. We all wore matching outfits and at 10am went to a bar to meet with the other teams. There was 20 other teams and we were 1 of 2 with kids! The aim of the game was to work out the clues and take a selfie of the whole team in front of the place that the clues described. We ran around part of the island taking photos and having fun! We went o a different restaurant at the end and talked to the other teams. When the results finally came we were overjoyed- we came first place!!!πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰It was definitely worth it!

New Years Eve and New Years day:

For New Years Eve, we went to a dinghy disco! A dinghy disco is where everyone takes their dinghy and ties onto the back of the hosting boat (which was Sailing vessel 'Electric Passage' in this case) and listens to the DJ's music. Me and my friend had made bracelets to give to people so we had lots of fun hopping from dinghy to dinghy. At 9:30pm, we went back to our boat and slept until midnight on the trampoline. We had been asking to do this for months! At 12am we woke up to fireworks! It was an amazing display that went on for 15 minutes! Then we went to bed (my sister and mum in their own beds and me and my dad stayed on the trampoline).

On New years day we relaxed until the float. There must have been over 100 boaters floating in floaties to the beach. It was so cool! Everyone was so nice and friendly!

Goodbye Bequia, hello St Lucia:

On the 2nd of January we woke up at 4:00 in the morning and set sail for St lucia. As we slid through the water, the full moon glistened above our sails. The moon began to set and the sun rose casting light over St Vincent and Bequia. As we neared the island of St Lucia, a pod of dolphins said hello for one second and swam away. We were so happy when we reached St Lucia after an 8 hour sail. We took a mooring ball in a beautiful bay in between the two Pitons (which are the country's famous moutains).

Island tour!

The 'volcano'

3 days after arriving, we rented a car with our friends who had sailed to Saint Lucia with us. We stopped at many cool places:
  • a volcano- We went to a very strange volcano. This isn't where the lava came out. It exploded on the south side of the island and imploded where we saw it so it was not pointed. What was left was craters and mounds of steaming mud! It stank of sulfur!
  • a mud bath- Next to the volcano was a mud bath. You would cover yourself in mud and the go in a 37 degree mud pool. It was a very unique experience.
  • Waterfall- After lunch, we went to cool off in a very cold waterfall. It was really nice to play in the shallow pool below it!

Homeschool Poem:

Here is a poem I wrote in Literacy about my boat-home:

Home is a turquiose glow.
Home is a dolphin, swimming the seas and exploring.
Home is summer, always hot and bright with colour.
Home is a palm tree, loving the beach and the warm salty air.
Home is a roti, always bursting with flavour.
Home is a compass, always choosing new paths.

Thank you for reading this blog post. I hope you enjoy reading about what me and my family get up to with our Caribbean boat-life! Speak soon, Ava πŸ˜„
