Ava's Tropical Dreams- Martinique!

 Martinique!

Last week, we sailed from St Lucia to Martinique. For a few days we were in Sainte Anne bay exploring the towns and beaches. One day, our family and all of our friends met in the town square for dinner and fun! The beaches there were lovely with nice sand and turquoise water. My dad had lots of fun kite surfing as it was very windy. I tried to wing foil but was not very successful! One time, we decided to go into a craft store... it was heaven as we got lots of supplies for crafts on the boat!

Fun facts about Martinique:
It is a french Island!
The locals speak French and not much English ๐Ÿ’ฌ
Everything is in Euros not EC (Eastern Caribbean Dollars)€๐Ÿ’ถ
It is rainier than some of the other Caribbean Islands ☔๐Ÿ’ง
Martinique is a popular tourist destination ✈๐Ÿ›„

After exploring some of Sainte Anne we sailed to a bay around the corner. While sailing, we got out the boatswain chair (pronounced bow๐ŸŽ€-son๐Ÿ‘ฆ as I found out from my grandad) and tied it to a line coming from a mast. While sailing, I was swinging over the water! It was so much fun! After an hour and a bit of down wind sailing, we arrived at a small bay with lots of boats. As we pulled in, we saw that one of our friends were also here. As we looked down, we saw that the water was so crystal clear!

Birthday!
One day it was one of our friend's birthday! To celebrate, lots of us went to swim in a cave that went on for more than 10 meters! It was really cool. We also went cliff jumping! Some other kid boats joined us. The big jump was around 10 meters! It was really high! Only the men and 2 older kids did it. All of the kids did a smaller jump that was 5 meters tall. It was really cool to play with everyone! As we were swimming back to the dinghies we saw a turtle ๐Ÿข I dove down and touched it! That night, we went out for dinner with our friends for her birthday.

Turtles and Starfish!
For the past few days, we have seen so many starfish and turtles! It has been amazing to be able to look at them and occasionally touch them. We are so lucky that families of amazing marine animals live right on our doorstep! We love being able to jump in and see a starfish straight away and then go and swim with turtles! ๐Ÿข

A beautiful church in Petite Anse we visited!
