Ava's Tropical Dreams- Bequia!
BEQUIA!
Wednesday 10th December
Hi! I am so excited to tell you about all of the amazing things I have done here in Bequia. When we first pulled in we were excited to see 2 of our friend boats. We anchored between them. Me and my sister decided to paddle board to the beach to meet some friends who were already there. We played in the sand until our other friends arrived. All of the kids then walked down the beach to the dock to jump off of it! We were all jumping off when a boat pulled in and told us to watch out so then we found another place to jump off- in between two dinghies! It wasn't the safest idea but as boat kids, you always put fun and adventure before safety π After jumping off the dock, we swam the whole length of the beach and went back to the parents.
Thursday 11th December
The next day, we saw that I had 2 really bad cuts on one of my legs so I was not allowed to swim! After homeschooling, I paddle boarded while everyone played in the water. As I was paddling around the bay, I heard someone playing a guitar, After looking around, I finally saw a man playing an electric guitar πΈπ΅. When he was finished, I went over to speak to him about guitar. When I went back to my boat 2 hours later, I was surprised to see all of our friends (kids and adults) hanging out. I had lots of fun playing with my friends!
Friday 12th December
On Friday, I have no idea what we did in the day other than homeschooling, but I can remember the evening! Us, another family and a couple went out and did a pub crawl. Don't worry none of the kids had any alcohol! We went to 3 or 4 local bars chatting to locals and having fun. At the most local bar we went to, there was the cutest, little kitten π». We all took turns holding it. I reckon that if we had not found its owner, one of us would have taken it home! That night, me and my friend decided that the next day, we would make lots of bracelets to sell. We had lots of fun discussing the prices and techniques on the way back to the boats.
Saturday 13th December
As we had discussed the day before, we made many bracelets in the morning. My sister, friends and I took the dinghy around the boats in the bay selling bracelets! We were wearing Christmas hats as well so every boat we went to bought a bracelet and took a picture of us π·π. After an hour, we stopped. That night, we were invited ,along with 3 other boats, to our friend's boat. The kids played games while the adults drank beers. Then, we all went into town ready for Light Bequia Up. That is where everyone meets at a place in town and there is a countdown and then all the Christmas lights everywhere turn on! There was also live music. It was a really cool experience as all of the locals and cruisers were there. We even met Mr Godwin Friday, prime minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines! It was so cool.
Since we had already had a late night last night, we left at around 10 o'clock.
Sunday 14th December
The next day, after homeschooling, we went in the dinghy and sold even more bracelets! We were really pleased with ourselves. Altogether, we made 130 EC which is equivalent to 36 pounds.
Monday 15th December
On the 15th we did our homeschooling as usual and then went to the beach. We collected lots of beer bottles and litter for the local bar and they gave us free drinks in return! As there were many tourists on the beach, we collected their rubbish for them and got litter out of bushes to keep the beach clean. Me and my friend came back to our boat and we made bracelets for an hour. My dad then came to pick us up. We earnt 60 more EC from selling them!
Tuesday 16th December
On Tuesday, as our friends had left to go to Martinique, we decided to sail to St Vincent. It was a very nice sail and we had a close encounter with the ferry. When we got there, after my sister and dad swam we went shopping. As we were waiting for a bus, it started pouring with rain so we got soaked! When we got back to the dock after a very unusual taxi ride, we then dinghied out to the boat. The boat was anchored off a luxurious island that had a private resort. We kept having to reanchor due to some inconvenience, so in the end we decided to do a sunset sail back to Bequia. We were very excited as we had never sailed in the dark! When we got to Bequia we anchored and then went out to dinner.
Wednesday 17th December
On Wednesday, we swam over to another boat after doing homeschooling. We swam with the kids off of their boat and played in a sunchill- a floating net. My dad, sister and I then did some water sports (kite boarding and wake boarding). After that we hung out with our new friends at the beach before going back for dinner. After dinner, we had our new friends over.
Speak soon, Ava π
