Ava's Tropical Dreams- Feels like 4 weeks instead of 1
Feels like 4 weeks instead of 1...
Even though we arrived in Grenada on Tuesday last week, it already feels like we have been here for more like four weeks than one week. We have done so many things already! Let me share with you what we have done:

Saturday
We went to Hog Island on Saturday morning as there was a jumble sale. There was tables with items on them people were selling. Everyone drove their dingys their and tied them to a rope on the beach. As the jumble sale was on the beach, everyone just walked around barefoot looking at everything that was for sale. I made friends with 2 locals girls who were selling bracelets there and we played in the water together. It was really fun! We also went on a hash. A hash is where lots of people get together and do a big walk. At the end there is a big party with food and drinks. As us and some others were new, they sprayed us with beer at the end a did a big ceremony.
Sunday
On Sunday, we went to hog island again. We had lots of fun snorkeling and swimming in the sea. There were these bottles in the sea that had been tied together by string and there was really cool seaweed growing on it. When you touched a certain part of the seaweed it would suddenly contract into a a part of it that looked like a tube. It was so cool! We also made friends with two local girls who told us about their schools and where they lived. They also plaited our hair for us. We had so much fun! At sunset, everyone blows conch shells from their boats so I got to blow a conch. It turns out I am the best in my family! We also relaxed on the trampolines and played guitar before going to bed.
Monday
On Monday, it was our first day of boat-schooling. Before starting, we swam in the sea to cool off. Boat-schooling went really well but was very tiring as we had not done learning since we had broken up for the summer holidays. We did Literacy, Maths, Journaling, Music, PE, History and Spelling. As we did really well, our parents took us to Le Phare Bleu to play with our friends. In the evening, my sister played guitar on the trampolines while we laid and listened.
Tuesday
On Tuesday, we went wake boarding next to our bay after boat-schooling. We saw that there was a really cool coral reef so we went back to our boat and got the snorkeling gear. While were were snorkling, we saw some really cool, coloured fish. My sister and my dad even saw a puffer fish! After snorkeling, we went to this secret beach and swam and played there, there were loads of shells there. We brought some shells back to the boat. After going to Le Phare Bleu for a play, we had a movie night at our boat!
Wednesday
We did boat-schooling on Wednesday until lunchtime. After that, me and my sister had lots of fun playing on the paddle boards. We played on the paddle boards until 4pm and then went to Le Phare bleu for wing night. At wing night, me and my friends made bracelets. I also played guitar. The chicken wings at Le Phare Bleu on wing night are amazing so we ate lots of them!!
Thursday
On Thursday, as usual, we did boat-schooling. After boat-schooling, we played on the paddle boards for ages. However at 3pm, we did sailing lessons at Le Phare Bleu! I have never done sailing lessons so I found it really fun. The man taught us many things like how to adjust the sail and steer the boat. At the end of the lesson we all got to go onto one boat (which was called the Marsh Mellow 😂) and capsize! We did it around 4 times and it was really fun. We then stayed in Le Phare Bleu with all of our friends. While we were there, I played my guitar. While I was playing, a boy ,who lived on a boat called Magistra, brought his ukulele out and played with me 🎸
TODAY:
Today, me and my mum went paddle boarding in the morning and now we are going to do boat-schooling and then, after that, go sailing to try the new mainsail out! At the moment, my mum is trying to bake banana bread (however the scale is not working because of the swaying) while my dad is working and we are schooling.
Thank you for reading this blog post! I will continue to do a blog every Friday. Speak soon. Ava 😄
(Time to eat freshly baked banana bread!)
