Ava's Tropical Dreams- No going back
No going back...
On Sunday, we deep cleaned our house as the renter moved in this week. Please bear in mind that this was not your daily clean like we are used to, this was a 'clean every inch of the house' deep clean. That meant we had to clean all of the windows, which I do not recommend after cleaning 53 of them! Hoover every single room and the stairs (which is actually not as bad as the window cleaning) and make sure the toilets were sparkling -which my mum did. At least, we are pretty much finished.
Where are we right now?
As we have just deep cleaned the house and the renter moved in this week, my grandparents have very kindly let us use their house as they have gone on holiday to Wales. All of our things are now here with us at my grandparents house.
What can we take?
Now, for anyone who does not know, a boat is not as big as a house (even if the boat has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms) so we can not take everything we own. We have already given away and put in the roof many of our things. However, we can still take precious belongings, lots of clothes and many toys.
What is on the boat already and what are we bringing?
Luckily for us, the previous owner of our boat has left 3 paddle boards and lots of snorkeling kits. My dad has also bought a Hooka diving system which allows us to dive 60ft under the surface together as a family. I have never tried diving so I am really excited to give it a go (even if I only go a few feet down on my first try). So we can take pictures while diving, we have got a underwater camera and hopefully I can share some of the pictures we take with you. My dad has also taken our wake boards so we can wake board behind the tender that we have on the back of our catamaran. Also, we have just got two foil boarding kits. Foil boarding is a water sport where you stand on a board that has a very large fin and hold a foil kite. The kite helps lift you out of the water and makes you able to glide above the water. Here is a picture of a person foil boarding...
I have never tried foil boarding but people say that you have to practice to get good.Am I excited about moving?
Moving to a boat in the Caribbean seems like the most amazing thing ever and I think that most people would love the option to be able to do it. I am really excited about moving as it brings lots of new opportunities. However, at the same time, it is a bit nerve racking. I will really miss all of my friends and family because I am so used to having them so near me, but when I am in Grenada and the Caribbean I will still be able to keep in touch.
What opportunities will moving to a boat in the Caribbean bring?
Moving to a boat will mean that I will have lots of new opportunities. Here are some opportunities that I thought of:
- Learning to sail. A catamaran has sails and I have never sailed before so I am excited to learn how.
Being able to study the sea and the animals that live in the sea. When I am older I would like to become a marine biologist so living on a boat will help me to achieve that.
- Learning to foil board. I have never been on a foil board so I can't wait to try.
- Meeting new people. I will be able to meet lots of new people in the islands and make new friends.
- Learning about different cultures and island traditions. In the Caribbean there are lots of different cultures and traditions so I will be able to learn about them.
- Exploring the islands. The islands in the Caribbean are very beautiful
(especially Grenada) so me and my family are excited to explore them.
3 days after the deep clean...
On the third day since the deep clean, the new renter moved into our house. Here are some pictures of us in and outside our very empty house...
Celebrate!🎉
Before we end this blog, I want to just do a quick shout out to my little sister as it is her 9th birthday today!

When will I be blogging?
I will be creating a blog every Friday. However, there will be no blogs this Friday or next Friday as we are having one last holiday in Wales. This means that the next blog that I will post will be when we are in Grenada. Thank you so much for reading my blogs. Speak soon. Ava😄

Did Dad do any cleaning Ava?🤣

ReplyDeleteHow fitting for a future marine biologist! Your resume will be rich with experience beyond your years in no time. I have a feeling you may also be quite the author as well! I'm sure you'll make so many friends, maybe even with dolphins?! I don't know much about the area.. Are there going to be dolphins? Keep us posted, I can't wait to read more!

Happy Birthday Thea!

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time.
With love from No.5 xx
These are so great to read, Ava! Really well done and we’re super excited for all of your adventures ahead.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, your dad does a little more work on the boat then he did helping clean the house.
Oh my gosh! This is all so exciting! Thank you for blogging and the photos! What a wonderful adventure you and your family are embarking on. Of all the people in the world to be "stuck" on a boat with, your mom is definitely the one I would chose! Lucky girls! Sending love from Portland Oregon!
