Ava's Tropical Dreams- Buying a boat, Selling possessions, Moving out...
Buying a boat, Selling possessions, Moving out...
Hi, I am Ava Lacey. I am 11 years old and live in England (at the moment). I am making a blog because I am moving abroad and want everyone to come on the adventure with me.
Behind the adventure
My parents used to work on boats before I was born, my mum was a chef and my dad was a captain. They worked in Canada, Florida and the Caribbean. Before I was born they moved back to England, which was where my dad used to live, to Silverstone Village. When I was one they moved to Greens Norton which is where I have lived for 10 years now. My dad worked for an underwater boat light company called Lumishore, while my mum carried on being a chef (but just on land). It has always been their dream to buy a boat of their own when they retired and me and my younger sister, Thea, were at university.
Why are we moving?
Last year, my dad was listening to a podcast about a family of 6 who moved from their home (in Australia) and bought a catamaran and started sailing around the world. My dad thought it would be a great idea for us to do the same, the entire family agreed and the excitement rose.
What point are we at?
You might be wondering how close we are to moving. So far we have bought a catamaran, sold most of our possessions and have already started packing to move as we have rented out our house. If you have ever moved house you might know what I mean when I say that it is a long, painful process of having to sell things that you want to keep and getting cross when people do not show up for the things they want to buy. Luckily, we are nearing the end of this process and have already entered the packing stage.
Where and when are we moving?
We will be flying to the place that our boat is on September 2nd this year. The boat we have bought is in Grenada. Grenada is an island that is in the South Caribbean. It is quite a large island with a population of 117,207 people (2024). It is also a very pretty island...

Our boat:
Our boat is a catamaran, which means that it has two hulls. Here is some pictures of our boat...
You might notice that, on the pictures, it says Altitude Adjustment on the side. That is the boat's old name that the previous owner thought of. However, we have renamed it so its new name is Tropical Dreams.
Thank you for reading this post. I hope that you will carry on reading my posts to come on this adventure with me and my family. Speak soon!
