Ava's Tropical Dreams- Happy Halloween!

Image
๐ŸŒบ H a p p y H a l l o w e e n ! ๐ŸŒบ       Before I say about Halloween,  I want to tell you about what has been happening on our boat. The other day we went to Clarkes Court Marina to have our Battery Charger/ Inverter replaced and upgraded, which charges our batteries and converts 12 volt energy into 220 volt energy. We use 220 voltage to charge household appliences (Ipads, laptops...) so it is very important to us. Solar normally charges the batteries, however if it is cloudy, we need to run the generator to charge them. As part of my homeschooling, my dad explained that to me.        Also this week, I will be sharing with you what Halloween is like in the Caribbean. First of all, most people in the bays do not think of Halloween as scary but instead an opportunity to dress up. This surprised my sister so she is going as something scary still (an angry bumble bee ๐Ÿ˜‚).    DECORATIONS: After doing our maths and literacy, we made sk...

Ava's Tropical Dreams- Welcome aboard Tropical Dreams!

Image
Welcome aboard Tropical Dreams!๐ŸŒด To mix it up, this week I am going to start my blog post with a poem my sister wrote- The Beach As the waves roll up the sand blew on the shoreline crabs scuttle away -by Thea That is what my sister created in her literacy lesson when she was learning about Haiku poems. I also created a poem in literacy: The Magical Ocean! Surfing on the waves,  swimming in the sea,  the sparkly blue ocean makes you feel free.   On the beach you're splashing, while the waves are crashing, the sparkly blue ocean makes you feel free. A turtle beckons me over, he reckons the ocean is calling, the sparkly blue ocean make you feel free. Swim under the bright sun, its lots of fun, the sparkly blue ocean makes you feel free. Swim through the moonlit sea,  you will feel carefree. Nothing is as magical as the shimmering sea. -By Ava       I love to make all of my blogs different so in this blog I will be showing a video tour of our boat. Unfor...

Ava's Tropical Dreams- Bay Hopping!

Image
๐ŸŒด Bay Hopping! ๐ŸŒด Sometimes when I write my blog posts I have no idea how to start it- this is one of these times... Ok, I will just continue from where I left off on my last blog (Island Tour). After being in Dragons Bay (where we saw the incredible sunset), we moved around to Grand Anse. Grand Anse is #32 most beautiful beach in the world! We enjoyed playing and swimming there as the beach is really clean and the water is crystal clear. While in Grand Anse, we went to a craft and spice market on the beach. On Saturday, we also went to the St George markets, which was really cool.    Next door to Grand Anse is Morne Rouge, which we anchored in after Grand Anse. While staying in Morne Rouge, we had some of our friends over for dinner and played many games of Uno!  After exploring the bays in the south west of Grenada, we moved back to Woburn to see our friends. We had 3 lovely days of playing at Le Phare Bleu with all the kids. While staying there we went on a sch...

Ava's Tropical Dreams- Island tour!

Image
๐ŸŒธIsland Tour!๐ŸŒธ Last Friday, we went on an island tour around the whole Island with my family, grandpa and Michelle! Here are some things we did while on the island tour... Chocolate factory!  The first stop on our tour was to the Tri Island chocolate company. They let us try samples of their chocolate and honeycomb and it was delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹. As well as that, they showed us the plants they use for making their chocolate (cocoa beans, cinnamon, nutmeg...). At the end of the tour I bought myself a bar of chocolate ๐Ÿซwhich was 80% cocoa! It's very strong but really nice.    Annandale Falls! The next stop we made was to Annandale Falls. We went to the waterfall and got to swim in the natural pool at the bottom and jump into the natural pool! The water was cold and refreshing which was lovely as it was so hot. There was also this man who jumped from the top of the waterfall and cannon-balled into the natural pool! It looked petrifying! We swam for around an hour and when we had...

Ava's Tropical Dreams- Out of the Marina at last!

Image
Out of the marina at last! After a fun-filled week at the marina, it was finally time to leave! We left the day after my dad got back from a work show in Monaco. We were glad he was back on the boat as he had been ill in Monaco. Luckily, he recovered quickly!  Here are some bullet points of the best parts of the week... Hanging out with friends at the marina- Even though when my dad came back we wanted to leave, we had lots of fun with friends. One night we even had a 'movie night' on the dock! I also got to have a sleep over with one of my best friends on their boat! Grandpa and Michelle staying with us- We were very lucky as while we were on the dock our Grandpa came to stay with us. It was the first time we had seen them in 2 years!   Live music- One of the nights at Le Phare Bleu, there was a band for live music. We had lots of fun watching them, they were very good.  Sailing!- A few days ago, we sailed to Prickly Bay Marina from Le Phare Bleu. I love it when we...
